On the afternoon of September 8, Wang Jinzu, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, held a cordial exchange with Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela, a traditional leader from the Mvezo Komkhulu region of South Africa, at the Zhangzhou Hotel. The two sides shared their friendship, discussed cooperation, and talked about the future.

Wang Jinzu, on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, extended a warm welcome to Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela and his delegation.

The “Ten Major Partnership Initiatives” have elevated the overall framework of China–Africa relations to a new‑era, all‑weather community with a shared future. During his talks in Beijing with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, President Xi Jinping jointly upgraded China–South Africa ties to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for the new era. This has opened up fresh opportunities and injected new momentum into our bilateral cooperation. At present, Zhangzhou is deepening and expanding its campaign to “study earnestly, strive for excellence, dare to lead, and deliver tangible results,” aiming to establish itself as a major new growth pole for high‑quality development in Fujian and accelerating the construction of a modern coastal city. We look forward to further strengthening exchanges between the two regions in areas such as educational development, talent cultivation, industrial upgrading, economic and trade investment, and infrastructure building, so that the express train of cooperation can run faster and better, enabling us to achieve mutually beneficial, win‑win development and turn our vision into reality.

Nkosi Zwelivelu Mandela expressed his gratitude for Zhangzhou’s meticulous arrangements and warm hospitality, and voiced his admiration for the city’s achievements in economic and social development. He stated that he would take this visit as an opportunity to foster closer ties between the two sides, deepen practical cooperation in urban planning, agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, the marine economy, and other fields, continuously strengthen mutual friendship, deliver more tangible outcomes, and enhance the well-being of the people in both regions.

That morning, Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela and his delegation, while attending the 24th China International Fair for Investment & Trade, visited the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Exhibition Area, the Zhangzhou Pavilion, and other venues, and conducted on-site inspections of the Zhangzhou Development Zone and the Zhangzhou High-tech Zone. During their stay in Zhangzhou, the delegation will also travel to Xiangcheng District, Dongshan County, Zhangpu County, and other locations to engage in exchanges aimed at further deepening cooperation.

Lin Songtian, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former Ambassador to South Africa; Li Shunxing, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Minnan Normal University; Vice Mayor Hong Taiwei; and responsible officials from relevant municipal departments attended the event.
