Iron oxide

Iron oxide

Iron oxide ranks second only to titanium dioxide in production and sales, making it the world’s second-largest inorganic pigment by volume and the largest colored pigment. Iron oxide pigments offer a wide range of colors, broad color spectra, excellent opacity, and strong tinting strength. Their primary hues include red, yellow, and black, and through blending they can also yield a series of composite shades such as orange, brown, and green.

Iron oxide pigments exhibit excellent resistance to light, weathering, acids, alkalis, and solvents, and are also non‑toxic. Consequently, they are widely used in construction materials, coatings, inks, plastics, ceramics, papermaking, and magnetic recording media, among other applications.
